Audioslave

Audioslave was an American rock supergroup that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2001. It consisted of then-former Soundgarden frontman, rhythm guitarist, and lead singer Chris Cornell and the then-former instrumentalists of Rage Against the Machine: Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass and backing vocals) and Brad Wilk (drums).

Critics initially described Audioslave as an amalgamation of Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden, but by the band's second album, Out of Exile, it was noted that they had established a separate identity.

The band's trademark sound was created by blending 1970s hard rock with 1990s alternative rock. Moreover, Morello incorporated his well-known, unconventional guitar solos into this mix. As with Rage Against the Machine, the band prided themselves on the fact that all sounds on their albums were produced using only guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

The self-titled debut album, Audioslave, was released on November 19, 2002 and entered the Billboard 200 It was certified gold by the RIAA within a month of release, and by 2006 achieved triple platinum status. It is the most successful Audioslave album to date, having sold more than three million copies in the United States alone. chart at number seven after selling 162,000 copies in its first week.

Audioslave second album Out of Exile was released internationally on May 23, 2005, then a day later in the U.S. It debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, the only Audioslave album to reach this position. The following week, however, it dropped to number three, with a 62 percent sales decrease, consequently reaching platinum. Cornell admitted to writing his most personal songs ever on this album, influenced by the positive changes in his life since 2002. He also described the album as more varied than the debut and relying less on heavy guitar riffs.

Their third album Revelations was released on September 5, 2006. The album entered the Billboard 200 at #2 and sold 142,000 copies during its first week of release. It became the band's least commercially successful album; dropping even faster than Out of Exile, its sales were down 65 percent the following week, The album showed funk, soul and R&B influences that were non-existent for the band before; Morello referred to the new sound as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind & Fire". Additionally, several songs took a more overtly liberal political stance than previous Audioslave achieving gold certification a month later. releases.

After Audioslave released three successful albums, received three Grammy nominations, and became the first American rock band to perform an open-air concert in Cuba, Cornell issued a statement in February 2007 announcing that he was permanently leaving the band "due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences". As the other three members were busy with the Rage Against the Machine reunion, and Morello and Cornell had each released solo albums in 2007, Audioslave was officially disbanded. Hoobastank

Hoobastank is an American rock band, best known for their 2004 hit "The Reason" and other hits "Crawling in the Dark" and "Running Away".

While the heavy alternative sounds of Tool and Alice in Chains were primary influences on Hoobastank's sound, the post-grunge quartet tempered the gloomier elements of such music with a suburban California groove and an eye for accessibility. Formed in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills in early 1994, the band's earliest members were vocalist Doug Robb and guitarist Dan Estrin, who met each other at a high-school battle of the bands competition. The two chose to join forces, adding bassist Markku Lappalainen and drummer Chris Hesse to form a competent quartet. The self-released, clumsily titled They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To generated strong local buzz upon its 1998 release, and soon the band had moved from backyard gigs to shows up and down the Cali coast.

Island Records took notice and put Hoobastank on the label's payroll in August 2000, and tours with the likeminded Incubus (to whom the band would be frequently, although not unreasonably, linked) and flavor-of-the-moment Alien Ant Farm followed. Hoobastank's eponymous debut dropped in November 2001, and the singles "Crawling in the Dark" and "Running Away" found a quick home on radio stations MTV playlists. The LP went gold, and the quartet's subsequent summer jaunt through Asia and Europe pushed it to platinum certification later that year. By early 2003, the band was back in the studio, laying down tracks for its sophomore effort. They then played a few dates in June and July, but were forced to cancel the remainder of the club tour when Estrin was injured in a freak minibike accident. The guitarist was back on his feet by October, and Hoobastank headed out with the All-American Rejects and Ozomatli for the Nokia Unwired tour.

Hoobastank Live Performance
Hoobastank offered the lead single "Out of Control" as a free download from their website before releasing a full-length album, The Reason, at the end of the year. Although it showcased a harder-edged vocal performance from Robb, the album's biggest hit was its title track, an emotive ballad that topped the rock charts and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The Reason went double platinum, and the band used that momentum to issue the Let It Out DVD, a collection of band's music videos, one year later. On a 2005 co-headlining tour with Velvet Revolver, however, Hoobastank received a chilly reception from some audiences, and rumors of a feud between Robb and VR frontman Scott Weiland were soon filling Internet message boards. "If I Were You," the first single from the group's 2006 album Every Man for Himself, addressed the whole affair. Both the song and the album fell quickly from the charts, but Every Man for Himself nevertheless went gold in one month, a feat that likely owed its success to the band's previous album. A new single ("My Turn") appeared in October 2008, followed by the arrival of For(N)ever in 2009. ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi [source : Hoobastank]

Alter Bridge

Alter Bridge is an American rock band that was formed in 2004 in Orlando, Florida by then-former Creed members, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Lead vocalist and rhythm Myles Kennedy, formerly of The Mayfield Four and the current frontman of Slash's touring band, joined shortly afterward. The band is named after an actual bridge that used to be located in Detroit, Michigan near Tremonti's home on Alter Road. The bridge led to a unsafe area, and the neighborhood children, who saw the other side of the bridge as the "unknown," were forbidden to cross it. According to Tremonti, the name of the band symbolizes choice and looking to the future.

Despite Creed's multi-platinum success, Alter Bridge arose with only gold status with their first album, One Day Remains, which was released in August 2004. It was followed by Blackbird in October 2007 and AB III in October 2010. However, despite the band's relatively low mainstream success in the United States, the individual members of Alter Bridge are known for their involvement with many notable side projects, including solo and session work, Creed, and Kennedy's collaborations with Slash and former members of Led Zeppelin. Matchbox Twenty

Matchbox Twenty (originally spelled officially as Matchbox 20 aka MB20) is an American rock band, formed in Orlando, Florida in 1995. The group currently comprises Rob Thomas (lead vocals, piano), Paul Doucette (rhythm guitarist, drums), Brian Yale (bassist), Kyle Cook (lead guitarist) and Ryan MacMillan (drums, percussion).

Matchbox Twenty rose to international fame with their debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You (1996), which was certified diamond in the United States and multi-platinum in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Their second album, Mad Season, released in 2000, charted in the top three on the Billboard 200 and was certified 4× platinum in the United States. Their third album, More Than You Think You Are, released in 2002, was certified double platinum in the United States. However, it was not as successful as the previous two albums, despite its singles receiving significant airplay.

The band then went on hiatus in 2004, and rhythm guitarist Adam Gaynor left the band in 2005, after performing on the first three studio albums. As a result, Paul Doucette took over rhythm guitar, and the band re-united and released a compilation album, Exile on Mainstream, in 2007, which was certified gold in the United States. Matchbox Twenty is currently on hiatus, and its members are focusing on solo work. However, while on tour in 2009 and 2010, Rob Thomas repeatedly said that the band will get back together to record another album later in 2010. [source : MB20]
